Barbara founded Atlantic Vocational Services in 1989. She has a Bachelors degree in psychology and a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Alabama. Barbara has over twenty years experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling and vocational evaluation with fifteen years of experience in private sector rehabilitation counseling and case management.
Barbara is licensed as a Professional
Counselor in Virginia and North Carolina. She is a Certified
Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE),
Certified Case Manager (CCM), Virginia Certified Rehabilitation Provider
(CRP) and a Fellow of the American Board of Vocational Experts. She has
been a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor for the U.S. Department of Labor,
Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs since 1983 and has worked cases
for OWCP in Norfolk, Washington, Boston and Jacksonville. She also serves
as a Hearing Officer for the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services
and is a member of the Chesapeake Community Services Board of Directors.
She was recently appointed to the Executive Board of Goodwill Industries of
Hampton Roads. Barbara has qualified as a vocational expert in cases
involving Virginia, North Carolina and Longshore Workers’ Compensation,
Social Security Disability, Railroad Retirement Board, and personal injury
claims.
Professional memberships include the
National Rehabilitation Association, Vocational Evaluation and Work
Adjustment Association and the International Association of Rehabilitation
Professionals (IARP). Barbara has been on the Executive Board of the
Virginia chapter of IARP/NARPPS for several years as Treasurer and
